Homeopathy

The theory behind homeopathic medicine begins with Hippocrates (460-377 BCE), who established the Law of Similars.  The Law of Similars is based on the principle that "like cures like".  This means that substances capable of causing symptoms of illness in a healthy person could also be used to treat similar symptoms during illness.  In the seventeen hundreds, German doctor Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843) established Homeopathic Medicine based on the Law of Similars.  He discovered that by diluting substances and succussing (shaking vigorously) them, the side effects of crude substances were eliminated, thus giving birth to the Homeopathic Remedy.

Homeopathic remedies can be made out of plant, animal, mineral, and man-made substances.  They are safe and effective medicines, which are safe to use for people of all ages and stages of health and disease, including pregnancy.

There are no side effects from homeopathic remedies, but occassionally a patient may experience a healing reaction which is when symptoms temporarily worsen as the disease is eliminated from the body.  Healing reactions typically occur 2 weeks after taking a remedy and last 2-3 days.
